I am surprised that The Daily Record chose to run an “article,” written by former mayor Len Fariello that was clearly a personal attack piece on the new Hanover administration. Most disturbing were the unsubstantiated, false accusations put forth by my former challenger regarding making charitable donations as a form of payment for mailing lists. My donations and campaign expense documentation is of public record and in compliance with all NJ Election law filing requirements. My suggestion is that Mr.Fariello instead of creating false impressions about someone who defeated him fairly and squarely, should concentrate on the accuracy and compliance of his own campaign filings.
What is most disappointing to me is that Mr. Fariello decided to also take out his personal frustrations on the local sports organizations and the families they represent, trying to create controversy where none exists. Like many Hanover businesses and residents, I am proud to support these volunteer organizations year after year for nearly the past 20 years with donations to Little League and Hanover Soccer, organized youth sports I believe are very important to the welfare of our children and the culture of our community. The donations I make are meant to help these organizations and their volunteers continue the work they do with our kids, and nothing more. Further, I am also proud of my ongoing support and donations for other worthy local organizations, including our local houses of worship, Veterans Associations, the Knights of Columbus, the Two Kids Foundation, Employment Horizons, the Danny G Fund, Project Graduation, the Fire Companies of Whippany and Cedar Knolls, the PBA and the national American Heart Association, and the Cancer Society, among others.
I can certainly understand Mr. Fariello’s disappointment at not continuing in his former position but the people have decided that we need to move in a new direction. My sincere hope is that the political sniping can finally come to an end so that we can all begin to work together to move Hanover forward.
